I flew out of the Lemoore army air corps base in the late 60s and 70s flying Stearmans crop dusting at day and night I was working for the fellow that bought the base from the city of Lemoore Ca. He had 13 stearman aircraft in the one big hanger, All were equipped for night spraying. The stearmans are also an era long gone. The old hangar is still there.

I would like to know my father who I believe was in an aviator class at Lemoore Army Air Base in April 1944. We have never met and he is possibly deceased. I do not know his name. However, my mother is Yvonne Agnes (Bonnie) Yeager. Yvonne died in 1966. In 1944 Yvonne was 19 years old and had graduated from Hanford High School in 1943. I have very little data and will very much appreciate any information no matter how insignificant.

This graduation book belonged to my father, Lt. Col. John M. Carah, who completed the USAAF Basic Flying School at Lemoore in early Fall of 1942. He did his primary flight training at King City and completed Multi-Engine Advanced training at Douglas AAF, Arizona in February, 1943 (Class 43B). He then went to B-17 transition school at Blythe AAF, competing the course in March 1943. He then went to Pyote AAF in Texas for Group training with the newly hatched 381st BG. His Group flew to England in May 1943 and started combat operations in June 1943. My father's B-17, 42-29928, was shot down over Normandy, France on 4 Jul 1943. He became an evader and escaped to Switzerland where he became a part of the Military Attache's staff. He returned to the US in March, 1944 and spent the remainder of the was as a ferry pilot with the ATC. He made the military his career and retired in 1966 after assignments in Saudi Arabia, Europe, Asia, Guam and various domestic bases.

I have a copy of "PASSING LIGHT' for the class of 1943...Most probably owned by a student from No. 6 Squadron...Both group photographs on the two pages in the booklet for this squadron are signed by many members....If anyone is interested in this document please contact me via e-mail...marshall850@hotmail.com...Cheers Barry Marshall
