Was at Emporia Squadron E as Cadet 1943. Was great place to be after Basic Training at Shepard Field. Lived in Tri Sig House. Flew B17s . Squadron E will always stand.

I am researching info for a scrapbook for my Dad, Chester R. Young. He was in Squadron E of the 84th College Training at Emporium. I have the Squadron picture if anyone is interested. Don't see a way to share, attach the photo. My Dad is 91 and I am his guardian for the South Plains Honor Flight in October. We live in Lubbock, TX

Donna, send your photo to me at curator@aafcollection.info and I will post it.

My dad was in the 84th College Training Detachment Squadron "A" - I am trying to get more information about this group. Did some of the men transfer there from Enid, OK air base? I'm writing a book about him and trying to piece together information since his military records were all lost in the national archives fire. I have a picture that has printing on it that says it is:
Squadron "A"
84th College Training Detachment (Airborn)
Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, Kans.
April 17th, 1943.
I would be happy to email you a scanned copy is you'd like. Any information about this squadron would be appreciated! Thanks!

Lynn Hawkins
