This book probably belonged to Lawrence "Laurie" R. Purvis, Jr., pictured on page 34.
An emblem was found inside the back cover of this book. It appears to be a decal printed on acetate. It depicts a skeleton (skull) dressed in a tuxedo, with bow tie, top hat, cigarette holder, monocle and a ruby or other gem. It is flanked by a pair of dice, both showing 2, as in 22.
This could be the emblem for a 22nd squadron, which could be a training squadron, or a combat squadron to which this cadet was later assigned. It does not seem to match the emblems of the 22d Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), nor the 22d Pursuit Squadron (Interceptor).
