[1] AB (19-Dec-2017 04:56 PM)

Thank you for posting this book documenting the graduation of my dad. I remember reading through it as a kid when rummaging around in the attic and it had a big impact on me. I look forward to sharing with other family members. I always wondered how the other classmates fared throughout the war. My dad obviously survived and passed away in 2011 at 92. He was proud to have served. He was one of the lucky ones.

[4] Lynn (05-Aug-2018 06:45 PM)

My dad was in the 84th College Training Detachment Squadron "A" - I am trying to get more information about this group. Did some of the men transfer there from Enid, OK air base? I'm writing a book about him and trying to piece together information since his military records were all lost in the national archives fire. I have a picture that has printing on it that says it is:
Squadron "A"
84th College Training Detachment (Airborn)
Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, Kans.
April 17th, 1943.
I would be happy to email you a scanned copy is you'd like. Any information about this squadron would be appreciated! Thanks!

[3] John D Reames Sr (25-Jul-2018 01:04 PM)

Been looking for Class book for navigator class 44-02 at Ellington Field, Ellington, Texas. My uncle Harvey Arthur Ackerman graduated At Ellington Field, Texas January 7, 1944 Bomber Squad 2 Class of 44-2. He mentions 44-A a lot. He also mentioned a Lt. Farley and a Lt. Earl Anderson who he says are in his class book. I believe the latter to be MAJOR GENERAL EARL O. ANDERSON who entered active military duty in February 1943 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and awarded his pilot wings at Ellington Field, Texas, in January 1944.

Thank you for displaying these books. I believe my 92 year old dad, Lynn V. McDonald, was in this class, but I don't have the book and I am trying to piece his history together. Alzheimer's has taken away much of his memory in the last few weeks, and I am trying to understand his military life so I can provide him with an album of these years. I did not know much about this phase of his training, so now I can try to put things together. This is special - thank you! ...Pat Watts

[2] Mike Voisin (03-Sep-2017 05:03 PM)

Class 43-G could have graduated about July 1943. There's a reference to that date in the cartoon on page 75. Many class books are intentionally vague on dates, sizes and assignments. They wanted to limit war-time information.

[1] Pattyk (03-Sep-2017 03:24 PM)

My dad graduated with 43G at Brooks. Do you know the date? I have searched this and other books, no reference to a date. He went on to train on the B-17. He received a crew at a base in Kansas, and arrived in England in January of 1945. First mission January 21, 1945.
