I found a graduation card and this is interesting to me.

@ Bobby Silliman, please email me at your convenience. Thanks! Jack Yao

[4] Jack Yao 630-323-8471 (21-Oct-2022 07:29 AM)

Good Morning,
My father's name is Yao, Chun-Ming and his picture is on page 33 (in the middle of the top row of class 225). I am interested in communicating with anyone who might have and could provide additional information about my father's class (225) and the class 325 - both of Chinese cadets. I live in Hinsdale, IL which is in the west suburb of Chicago and could be reached by phone or email. Thanks!

[3] Bobby Silliman (17-Jun-2021 11:11 AM)

Hello, Eva Mazzeo! I can absolutely share more information regarding your grandfather, Chinese National cadet Kuo, Chi-Hwa. My e-mail is currently down but I can send files and text via Facebook and Messenger. Please contact me at either of those locations.. Thank you!.. Xie Xie. Bobby Lee Silliman

[2] Eva Mazzeo (16-Jun-2021 02:15 PM)

Hi Biu Tsui, Mike, and Bobby Lee,

I am the granddaughter of one of the bombardiers on page 46 (Kuo, Chi-Hwa). I am helping my father, Kuo???s son, research and came across this collection. We have the actual book but not much other information. Do any of you have more information or history that you are willing to share with me?

Thank you,

Eva Mazzeo (eva.atk.mazzeo@gmail.com)

[1] Bobby Lee Siliman (23-Jan-2013 10:35 AM)

Mike.
This is a great classbook, information wise! I have this xerox copy in my files already and I am having most of the pages enhanced for better viewing. It is a few weeks away from being completed but I wanted Tsui Biu, the son of one of these CAAF Chinese cadets, to have better images for his research. He wants to compile a bettter understanding of what all his father did while in America training to take the war back home to fight the Japanese. I recently added to my small library, the Marana Army Air Field class book "Interphone" Class 44-E. His father took pilot lessons and graduated from there but not with the 44-E class. From there he was sent to Carlsbad Army Air Field for bombardier and navigation training. He graduated with the class of 45-235
Thank you for sharing this and adding it to your one of a kind collection!
Best regrads

Class 43-G could have graduated about July 1943. There's a reference to that date in the cartoon on page 75. Many class books are intentionally vague on dates, sizes and assignments. They wanted to limit war-time information.

[1] Pattyk (03-Sep-2017 03:24 PM)

My dad graduated with 43G at Brooks. Do you know the date? I have searched this and other books, no reference to a date. He went on to train on the B-17. He received a crew at a base in Kansas, and arrived in England in January of 1945. First mission January 21, 1945.

[3] Jim (11-Nov-2013 01:28 AM)

By the way, if anyone has a copy of Bruce field class 42-K, I Would like to see it. My other uncle should be in that book. He was killed by sabotage of the plane he was ferrying out of Malta. I have never seen his picture.

[2] Jim (11-Nov-2013 01:25 AM)

Hello Karen, I was looking for information about my uncle and ran into a registry of all accidents involving airplanes. I'm not sure I could find it again, but let me know if you'd like me to try. I found a record of a ground loop on landing when he was training.

[1] Karen (15-May-2010 11:14 PM)

I've been working on my husband's family tree. This book helped to answer some questions about his great uncle, Melvin L. Holman. My husband's grandmother talked about her younger brother being a cadet and being killed while testing a plane. We would like more information about that incident. If any one knows where we can get more information, please contact us.

My father, Thomas Carl Chapman, appears in this issue and in another book like this called (I think) CAVU 44G Goodfellow Field for the 84th Basic Flight Training Squadron, Gunter Field, Alabama. I could not get many records from the Archives on my father as they said the collection was burned up in a fire in the 1960's. I am looking to find out any info as to what missions he flew

AMERICAN REMINISCENCES OF THE CARIBBEAN: 1937-1948

Dear Editorial team

We welcome your advice/assistance with regards inviting American contributions to our latest research.

We are currently seeking American contributions to add to reminiscences of the Caribbean 1937-1948. The initial objectives for the material we are gathering are a book and online resource for schools and colleges. [NB. we have researched archive sources to provide us with a strong understanding of this history.

We welcome any advice or assistance in helping us to contact US veterans who served in the Caribbean, such as the 'Dixie Division' and the African American 99th anti-aircraft Artillery.

Contributions to date have come from all perspectives - servicemen, wartime civilians (Aruba, Barbados, Cura?ao, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Trinidad) , U-Boat Officers, merchant sailors....
Our search for reminiscences is all about providing Educators and Learners with as broad and diverse a perspective as possible: We want to gain an impression of the war at sea, we are also gathering memories of the West Indies as bases of operations; what impressions their civilian populations made; how the islands provided for torpedoed merchant seamen; memories of shore-leave...

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Best wishes

Tony T
